Billion-dollar urgent care clinics ‘here to stay’ despite unfinished evaluation, PM declares
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has decided not to wait for a final report to assess the success of urgent care clinics.
The Federal Government will pour billions of dollars more into urgent care clinics to entrench them in the health system before it publishes its final evaluation this year.
Next week’s federal budget will contain $1.8 billion over five years for urgent care clinics (UCCs), and $580 million for each year after, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced on Sunday.
“The network of Medicare UCCs are proving to be a game changer for all Australians,” he said.
“More people more of the time are getting free urgent care close to home.”
