Vaccine storage failures found at 33 GP clinics

Dozens of GP clinics have been caught breaking vaccine cold-chain rules following an audit by public health authorities.
NSW Health conducted an audit of 44 so-called ‘high-risk’ practices after a clinic in Sydney last year was found to be administering out-of-date vaccines, which had been incorrectly stored in a household fridge.
Some 3000 patients who had attended the practice in the previous decade were tracked down.
The results of the subsequent audit, which took place in July, have finally been revealed, showing that 33 of the 44 practices targeted had breached cold-chain rules.
