Vaccine booster doses could be brought forward as health authorities grapple with the new COVID-19 Omicron variant.

ATAGI has been asked to review the time frame for COVID-19 booster vaccines because of the potential threat.

Two fully vaccinated people who flew from southern Africa to Sydney were on Sunday confirmed to have the Omicron strain. They did not have any symptoms.

Separately, the strain has been detected in a man in the NT’s Howard Springs quarantine facility.
