Vax more protective against COVID-19 than natural immunity: study

US research confirms those who have had the virus still need to be vaccinated ‘as soon as possible’, says the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention

COVID-19 vaccination offers five times the protection of natural immunity, US research suggests.

The finding underscores the importance for people who have recovered from the infection to still undergo vaccination, says the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) which funded the funded study.

The researchers reviewed the vaccination status of more than 7300 adults who had been hospitalised with COVID-like illness

They looked at rates of laboratory-confirmed SARS-C0V-2 infection in unvaccinated patients who had previously tested positive for the virus more than 90 days prior to admission.
