Victorian AMA introduces board gender quota

AMA Victoria has voted to introduce gender quotas for its board as part of a wider attempt to tackle the imbalance in female doctors holding senior positions in the medical profession.
Members of the state group voted on Tuesday to ensure that at least 40% of the directors on its board were women.
Three of its seven board positions will be reserved exclusively for female members, although women will still be able to contest the other directorships on an equal basis with men.
If no female candidates stand for the board, then positions will be held open until some can be found.
