Wanted: The names of dead doctors as legendary as Chrissy Amphlett or Dame Edna
There is the Harold Holt Swim Centre, Amphlett Lane and Dame Edna Place, and now AMA Victoria wants legendary doctors to be honoured.
The state government is currently collecting the names of significant Victorians to go into a name bank which will then be used to source names for streets, parks or community facilities.
“Doctors’ legacies deserve to be remembered and celebrated,” says AMA Victoria.
It seems a lot of names will be needed, however. According to the government, population growth will create another 6000 places over the next three years, including streets, suburbs and schools.
