Clinicians are being urged to consider misuse of OTC cough medicines containing dextromethorphan in patients with abnormal liver results, after US doctors treated an octogenarian who chronically abused Robitussin.
Their 82-year-old patient presented to a Florida hospital with a one-day history of constant, epigastric abdominal pain, which was rated a six out of 10.
