Meat-free burger patties, nuggets and sausages are often marketed to consumers as being a healthy alternative to meat and are growing in popularity due to concerns about animal farming’s links to climate change.

But is plant-based food really better for people?

They say plant-based foods often have high levels of additives, salt and genetically modified ingredients, yet can be labelled with false claims, for example, that a product is healthier than meat.
