‘We wanted to make sure Dominic and Freddy weren’t hidden or locked away’

After Dr Tim Lane accepted a job in a small country town last year he made the decision to publicly share his family circumstances with the community before his arrival.
It was done via a social media post from the local health service announcing how thrilled it was to be finally appointing a permanent doctor for Clermont.
Nothing spectacular. The post offered few details about his role and how positive it was for the community along with a reference to Dr Lane’s experience and his love of general practice.
But the post also included a picture of Dr Lane together with his partner Freddy Baker and their baby son Dominic.
