‘Wellness’ clinic failed to sterilise colonic devices between uses

A naturopathic clinic in Sydney failed to sterilise colonic irrigation devices between customers for seven years, the state health department is warning.
NSW Health is advising patrons of DETOXologie in Bondi Junction who had ‘colon hydrotherapy’ between June 2013 and December 2020 to be tested for blood-borne diseases.
The alleged breach of infection control protocols was discovered during an assessment of the risk to other customers who attended the ‘wellness’ clinic or consulted naturopath Fay Fain after two people were hospitalised over adverse reactions to IV infusions in December.
In a public health warning issued at the time, the NSW Health Care Complaints Commissioner (HCCC) said DETOXologie, operated by Ms Fain, had unlawfully administered imported medication not approved by the TGA.
