‘We’re like a frog being boiled slowly,’ warns leading GP

The AMA's Dr Chris Moy says low COVID-19 booster uptake is a major concern as the Federal Government announces a $11m national advertising blitz to increase uptake

A leading GP has described Australia’s current COVID-19 situation as “like a frog being boiled slowly”.

The AMA’s Vice President Dr Chris Moy was commenting on lagging third booster uptake, with rates sitting at 70% of eligible adults, according to Federal Government figures for 21 June.

He told  ABC Radio Sydney on Thursday that this was partly due to complacency, but also because the political parties had lost their pandemic focus during the election.

“There has been a level of complacency and a feeling like it’s all over. But unfortunately, COVID-19 is definitely still there,” Dr Moy said.
