Under its flagship re-election policy, the Federal Government is promising nine out of 10 GP visits will be free from out-of-pocket expenses by 2030.

As part of an $8.5 billion pledge, it announced on Sunday that it would expand the current bulk-billing incentives to all patients regardless of their concessional status.

The policy also included offering a 12.5% loading to any practice that offered universal bulk-billing.

Minister for Health and Aged Care Mark Butler claimed it would lead to 3200 new universal bulk-billing GP practices across Australia by 2030, up from 1600 currently.
