GPs are seeking greater clarification on whether group consultations are billable on the MBS.
This month, AusDoc’s interview with GP Dr Alecia Macrow on group consultations sparked debate over whether the consultations are billable to Medicare.Â
Dr Macrow’s work, presented at the RACGP’s Practice Owners Conference, has involved trialling a mix of private and Medicare-funded consultations.
She billed Medicare only when she felt she had met the MBS consultation requirements for each patient individually.
And she was not the first GP to consider this approach.
