What’s driving a boom in medicinal cannabis scripts?

A rise in medicinal cannabis prescribing means more than 200,000 scripts are being written a year, according to a new Australian study.
Since the drug was approved in 2016 under the TGA’s Special Access Scheme Category B a total of 248,000 scripts have been issued.
However, the vast majority (85%) were written between 2020 and 2021, shows the study by a group of Sydney universities.
The drug is being prescribed mainly for chronic pain, anxiety or sleep disorders.
