They may not be popular, but isometric exercises such as planks and wall sits have come out on top in a review assessing the efficacy of different types of exercise in reducing blood pressure. 

Researchers compared the antihypertensive effects of a number of exercise categories, including aerobic, dynamic resistance exercises (such as squats, push ups and weights), combined aerobic and resistance exercises, high intensity interval (HIIT) and isometric exercises.
