The University of Melbourne has pipped rival the University of Sydney in the international medical school rankings for the third year in a row.

It ranked equal 16th on the 2020 QS World University Rankings by Subject, alongside Duke University in North Carolina, US, up from 17th place in 2019.

The University of Sydney was ranked the 18th best medical training in the world, the same place it held last year.

The rankings were based on four indicators, including employer reputation, citations on research papers and academic reputation.
