Which doctors are most likely to contract COVID-19?

Surprise findings show ICU staff are relatively well protected from the virus due to PPE: UK research

Doctors and nurses working in ICU were the least likely to be infected with SARS-CoV-2 compared with other hospital staff at the height of the pandemic, a UK study shows.

The surprise findings underline the importance of appropriate PPE with ventilated masks mandatory for ICU staff, the authors say.

The study of 545 staff at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust found infection risk was highest among acute and general medicine clinicians and cleaners.

And the lowest infection rates were seen in those working in emergency, ICU and general surgery.
