The University of Tasmania and University of Adelaide are the best Australian medical schools at preparing students for the rigours of their internship, a survey suggests.

The 2019 intern survey, conducted by the Medical Board of Australia, found that 74% of respondents felt their medical education sufficiently prepared them for intern life.

However, there were stark differences between universities, with Adelaide and Tasmania home to the only universities where no student disagreed or strongly disagreed with the statement: “Overall I felt my medical education was sufficient to undertake the role and responsibilities of an intern.”
