Which N95 is ranked highest by doctors?

One design outperformed other respirator masks for comfort, fit and usability in a survey

Respirators are not known for their comfort, but one style has outperformed other models for doctors and nurses — and should be the version stocked by hospitals, researchers say.

The Royal Melbourne Hospital-led team compared four types of N95 masks, finding the three-panel flat-fold style respirator was ranked best for comfort, usability and fit-testing.

Anaesthetist Dr Irene Ng and colleagues say health facilities should buy equipment favoured by staff to ensure higher levels of compliance.

“The three-panel flat-fold N95 respirator type should therefore be preferred for healthcare workers,” they wrote in the Medical Journal of Australia
