Who fares better with dieting – men or women?

Women with overweight and obesity tend to shed more kilograms using weight loss medications than men, Australian research shows.
Conversely, men appear to have greater success with dieting than their female counterparts, say University of Sydney authors, who presented their findings at the International Congress on Obesity in Melbourne last week.
They examined three clinical trials to compare gender responses to pharmacological interventions for weight loss, as well as looked at a review of lifestyle interventions.
In a study on the GLP-1 receptor agonist semaglutide, the mean relative weight loss for women was 18% compared with 13% for men, after more than a year on the drug.
