Why would any doctor infected with measles open a clinic at the epicentre of an outbreak?

We reported on Tuesday that a doctor described by Robert F Kennedy Jr as an “extraordinary healer” turned up to work at a makeshift clinic he set up at the centre of the measles outbreak in the US.

He was infected with measles himself, a fact he was well aware of.

The following article published by Unbiased Science examines Dr Ben Edwards’ medical background, his claim that natural measles infection is “God’s version of measles immunisation” and why local doctors have come to fear his followers.

Texas is currently experiencing its most severe measles outbreak in three decades, with 561 confirmed cases as of April 2025, resulting in 58 hospitalisations and three deaths — two unvaccinated children in Texas and one unvaccinated adult in New Mexico classified as “under investigation”.
