‘Why would a GP move to a rural town for $500,000 where they have nobody?’

A doctor has defended GPs after they were accused of opting for the good life in the city rather than taking up a $514,000-a-year job in remote Queensland.
Health authorities have struggled to fill a vacancy in Julia Creek, a community 600km from Townsville, which has been covered by the media, including ABC News.
The town’s mayor said despite the money on offer, she had received just two applications – both from doctors who wanted a fly-in/fly-out arrangement.
Reading the comments to the ABC News story, including one suggestion to bring in doctors from Cuba, GP Dr Michael Mrozinski decided to explain via a TikTok video to his 300,000 followers why it’s not about the money.
