Will the AI revolution mean you’ll be clocking off early? The Productivity Commission has a list

For most of us the only question worth asking about the coming AI revolution is whether it really is going to free us from work’s routine chores so we can spend our lives doing something more interesting instead.
Last week the Productivity Commission gave its assessment of what the future hold in its research paper called Leveraging digital technology in healthcare.
As you can imagine, it was more focused on squeezing out workforce efficiencies than celebrating the opportunities for self-actualisation.
But it said in Australia nurses are spending around 9% of their working time on administration and GPs around 5%.
