You can now join a CPD home for just $299 — should the RACGP be worried?

The first question when the Medical Board of Australia announced its CPD home revolution was whether it meant GPs could abandon their colleges en masse.
They had been stuck in an unusual monopoly which meant, unlike other specialists, they could not meet their CPD requirements for continued registration without doing the CPD laid down by either the RACGP or ACRRM.
It turned out, with the new CPD home regime, the answer was suddenly yes.
So now the question is whether GPs will actually do it — and if so, exactly what kind of homes can they move into? And, as you will see below, the other specialist colleges are also inviting you to join their respective homes – at least for a price.
