In our series this week, AusDoc reflects on the ups and the downs, taking a look back on what has been a tough, exhausting year for so many.
The heartbreaking sacrifices women make while pursuing a medical career, including deferring motherhood and terminating pregnancies, was laid bare in May after 1100 female doctors responded to a surgical registrar’s survey.
More than one-third of Australian female doctors who responded revealed they had miscarried, while half had experienced pregnancy complications and 27% had undergone IVF.
