Dr Jacob Koshy spent months under AHPRA investigation before being cleared of wrongdoing. Then, the watchdog came back.

But this time, it wanted his help.

Four years ago, Dr Koshy, the director of anaesthetics at Alice Springs Hospital, received the letter that most doctors dread: AHPRA saying it was investigating a complaint against him.

A patient had claimed they had been harmed by the regional anaesthesia he had administered — despite him administering it as a safer alternative to general anaesthesia because of the patient’s comorbidities.
