Dr Jack Tagg’s “pretty terrible” last day in a British hospital dispelled any doubts about his decision to take up a post in Australia.
On his final shift, the UK junior doctor scrambled to care for 40 patients on his own in a urology surgical ward, overwhelmed and unsupported.
“When you’ve got 40 patients and one junior doctor, you can only do the absolute bare minimum that’s considered safe for those patients,” the 28-year-old said.
“It didn’t feel safe. It was a pretty terrible day — and if anything — vindicated my decision to come here.
