‘Young lives destroyed’: Why this GP has set up a long COVID clinic

Dr David Fineberg was inspired to set up his own clinic for long COVID patients after a friend was struck down.

Dr David Fineberg was shocked when he saw previously fit soldiers who could barely rise from a chair as a result of long COVID.  

At the time, he was a civilian medical officer in the Australian Defence Force but said he did not know what to do.

“These are people used to running kilometres with 20-30kg backpacks and they were presenting with chronic fatigue and a myriad of other symptoms, but I had to refer them on,” the Melbourne GP says. 

So when a friend was also devastated by the syndrome during the pandemic, Dr Fineberg decided to find out more.
