The pressures on general practice are now so great that there are fears it will crack.

Dealing with the demands of increasing numbers of COVID-19 patients and tasked with managing the urgent administration of millions of booster doses, some practices are also facing severe staff shortages.

Australian Doctor has been asking GPs for their stories of what is happening to them on the front line.

As you will see below, some have had to take on other roles, like manning the reception desk, just to keep their practices running. Others say they’re on the verge of closing down.
