As a GP, I’ve determined my own scope of practice. I can now perform laminectomies!

As doctors warn of the risks of pharmacists prescribing S4 drugs without medical oversight, and the dangers of pharmacists determining their own scope of practice, Newcastle GP Dr Max Mollenkopf has had an idea.

He has determined he can do neurosurgery.

After all, neurosurgeons are expensive and have long wait times too. Seeing one is very inconvenient. Patients would definitely prefer if their GP could do their laminectomy.

What could go wrong?
