As a GP who provides gender-affirming care, I’m rattled by the UK move against puberty blockers

The UK’s Cass Review should not be a blueprint for gender-affirming care in Australia.
Headed by paediatrician Dr Hilary Cass, the NHS-commissioned review recommends against puberty blockers for most children who identify as transgender, with Dr Cass citing the “remarkably weak evidence” in support of medical intervention.
Preceding the release of the report, significant limitations had already been placed on the provision of puberty blockers across various countries in Europe as well as the UK.
The findings are problematic for a number of reasons.
