Disillusioned and fed up: GPs are sick of the coronavirus chaos

I started this opinion piece a month ago but have constantly revised it in light of the recent chaos surrounding the pandemic response.

My original article congratulated my GP colleagues for the praise bestowed upon them by my state premier who voiced her thanks for the central role that GPs were playing in the pandemic response.

She openly acknowledged that GPs were shouldering the biggest load in the vaccine rollout, rare acknowledgement of the key role of primary care from a state politician.

But a month later my brief feeling of elation has been completely erased by the ongoing stuff-ups and lack of respect that our national leaders have inflicted upon us over the past month.
