GPs are often on the front line when it comes to treating and counselling the victims of family violence.

But what happens when another doctor or registered health practitioner is the alleged perpetrator?

Until recently, regulators have not provided guidance in relation to doctors who engage in family violence.

That changed with the release of the  Joint Position on Family Violence by Regulators of Health Practitioners in November last year.
