Drugs and women: Two lockdown books I loved

During the lockdown I had the opportunity to read two non-fiction books that I can recommend.

Bottle of Lies: The Inside Story of the Generic Drug Boom was suggested to me by a pharmacist at the Drug and Therapeutic Information Service in SA â€” an amazing group of primarily pharmacists who provide evidence-based, unbiased information and advice on medication, often at a moment’s notice, when the patient is still sitting in front of you.

Be it the clinical significance of potential listed drug interactions, the least harmful treatment for a patient on a plethora of other drugs, the efficacy of a natural remedy, a suitable substitute drug for one that is unable to be sourced, one has access to an expert opinion in a timely fashion.

Sometimes a whole literature search is commenced to find an answer to your question, or specialist opinions are obtained on your behalf. I cannot tell you how highly I value their service â€” it’s indispensable.
