Ruptured ACLs, infectious diseases, fractured bones — grandparenting can be hazardous to your health

Dr Pam Rachootin.

Grandparenting can be hazardous.

I have identified a number of potential risks for grandparents who maintain active interactions with their grandchildren.

This fun-loving grandparent, known as Mormor (mother’s mother in Danish), who enjoys romping around with her grandson, Nathan, pursuing all sorts of physical activity, has already had occasion to speak to an orthopaedic surgeon about her mishap which occurred when Nathan was three.

On his visit here, I discovered that there was one piece of playground equipment that Nathan was especially excited about, one that was absent in Toronto where he was based at the time.
