GP registrars on parental leave ‘should not need exemptions to sit fellowship exams’

The RACGP has defended its stance that registrars on parental leave must seek special dispensation to sit fellowship exams.
AMA Victoria has been lobbying several medical colleges, including the RACGP, that exclude registrars who are on leave from their training program from sitting exams.
This includes sick leave, carer’s leave and parental leave.
AMA Victoria says parental leave should be carved out of the policy to “promote a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and equal opportunity”.
