I became paranoid about cardiac risk factors: What autopsies taught me about heart disease

Another National Heart Week has finished and I missed it.
Heart disease is a bit like this, easily overlooked despite being the commonest cause of death in Australian adults.
Just because the rate has been falling steadily over the last 20 years doesn’t mean it is less important.
I became quite intimate with hearts during my time doing autopsies for the coroner, leading me to reflect on a few issues I’d not paid much attention to previously.
