I don’t regret moving to Australia, but I still have my gripes about the treatment of IMGs

Moving to Australia was one of the biggest decisions I ever made, one born out of frustration with the UK’s NHS.

And it seems that 10 years after my big move to the other side of the planet, with UK doctors on strike and the system in crisis, the time is right for Australia to take advantage of the situation and attempt to plug its own healthcare holes with a new recruitment drive.

Even from a prepubescent age, I knew I wanted to follow my father’s footsteps into general practice.

Attracted to the job he touted as “never-ending learning”, I liked the thought of being a jack of all trades and master of some — not none.
