I had to beg my father to take me to hospital: The curse of growing up with medical parents

Dr Rachel Glasson.

It seems that the unfortunate fate of those born to parents with a wealth of medical knowledge is that their parents never believe they are actually sick.

When I started as a GP registrar, I had the good fortune to work with three doctors who between them had over a century of experience in general practice.

They each had their own distinctive manner and approach, which allowed me to ask them all the same clinical question, receive three widely differing pieces of advice, and then blend them all into something that I could make my own. It was amazing.

The last of those three is about to retire at the end of this year.
