I never mastered the fetal trumpet but have always embraced new technology – with a healthy dose of scepticism

I must respond to Dr Sue Ieraci’s question, “Why does doctor technophobia persist?”, by stating that I have always been keen to adopt new technologies, and there are considerable benefits in doing so.
I maybe a sceptic, but I’m not a luddite. I’m always looking for ways to improve my professional skills and benefit my patients.
My first introduction to medical technology was as a medical student in the 1960s, when the cardiologists tried to teach us to use a stethoscope.
Suffice to say that I couldn’t hear a bloody thing with this professional status symbol.
