I rarely cry, but I’m tired, really tired

The vast amount of memes, jokes and links that have been sent around in 2020 have mainly slipped right by me, as all the things I have had to do this year has expanded, and then expanded again.

The necessary has edged out all those slow moments when I might have casually opened my socials and clicked a link for a brief moment of amusement.

Between my coronavirus-centric work, online learning for my kids, and the inevitable family administration that comes from a world where the rules are permanently shifting, means that now every spare five minutes is an opportunity to chip away at my inbox or pay a bill.

So it was an unusual moment for this strange year when I clicked on a YouTube video the other day to watch The Royal Melbourne Hospital Scrub Choir sing The Pretenders song ‘I’ll Stand by You’.
