Fresh air, playtime and empathy with incontinence — my patient’s return to the toddler room

Change is difficult to accept at both ends of life.
I once witnessed (via video chat) my grandson, then aged two-and-a-half, arrive home from childcare saying he was sad.
He had just graduated to the preschool section of his childcare, leaving behind the toddler room and the carers to whom he had become quite attached.Â
The transition had been marked by a special graduation ceremony in which he was photographed beaming. He was given a diploma and wore a mortar board.Â
