I’m being terminated by patients who think I’m too old to ‘see them out’

With the scarcity of GPs already well recognised by the public, a handful of my patients apparently feel the need to be proactive.
They have chosen to desert my solo practice, based on the erroneous assumption that I must be preparing for retirement.
Sometimes I have no inkling that anything is amiss until I receive a request for a transfer of notes to another practice.
Other times, after repeated attempts to make contact with a patient for follow-up, they confess and let me know they have a new doctor.
