On Monday, AusDoc columnist Dr Craig Lilienthal wrote about his experiences trying to re-register as a healthcare professional using AHPRA’s updated registration portal.

It seems his experiences, documented in painful detail, have been widely shared, judging by the feedback.

The main pain point is the need to use multi-factor authentication to complete the process — a common enough demand in the modern world but one made nightmarish by the “complexity and gobbledygook” of the instructions drawn up by the watchdog.

His granddaughter, who is currently studying cybersecurity at university, was flummoxed. So too was an IT consultant Dr Lilienthal brought in to help.
