Is it now better to be a ‘nice’ doctor than a good one?

I recently examined a GP case for a final-year medical school live exam.
Both I and the simulated-patient actor, a layperson, independently graded the medical students’ performance in the station.
The medical students were polished and polite, and washed their hands at least twice.
But I left the examination day highly confused; the patient actor and I rarely agreed upon what mark each student should receive.
