It’s time to stop dancing around VAD and properly integrate it into end-of-life care
Talking about death with patients is never easy, and the topic of voluntary assisted dying (VAD) adds an extra layer of complexity and sensitivity.
VAD is a deeply personal end-of-life choice. Many of us feel ill-equipped to have conversations about it, even when patients raise it.
This is despite VAD being a legal end-of-life option.
VAD is only available to people who are terminally ill and experiencing intolerable suffering.
