I’ve been ‘self-reflecting’ on how I became a good doctor — the answer isn’t CPD

If formal education is a substitute for practical experience, I’ve been a slow learner.

I am quite certain I did not learn to be a good doctor from sitting exams or acquiring CPD points.

And yet, the medical board thinks it can improve my professional standards by implementing an unproven and unprovable accreditation program.

In an excellent article in The Medical Republic, Dr Michael Gliksman reveals that the references used by the medical board to support its current CPD requirements are, at best, weak.
