National script system: Punishing GPs for problems created by government policy

The latest scheme to drive GPs completely insane is arriving.

Let’s punish GPs for fragmented care engineered by government policy, making GPs register every script they write and check that no other health provider has issued a similar script for the medication in question.

Let’s see, that could easily add another five minutes or more to most consults, depending on the number of scripts the patient requests.

I already know that feeling of utter defeat at the end of a long consult, when the patient says: “Well, I’m off to Europe next week and just need a script for temazepam for jet lag.”
