Peering at the screen I was sure I could see metastases: When the doctor becomes the patient

Most of us have spent some time on the other side of the doctor’s desk.
We have sat anxiously or hopefully or awkwardly with our pains and worries, or have accompanied those dear to us.
Even in the best of hands, it is not a seamless process.
I see two GPs: a female doctor for matters above the umbilicus, and a male colleague for those slightly below there.
