Scrubs off, wetsuits on: This is what happens when doctors across the specialties come together
If you’d told me five years ago that a ragtag crew of surgeons, psychiatrists, sports docs, GPs, anaesthetists, emergency doctors and a medical anthropologist would be hooting through a wave pool together, I would’ve laughed.
And yet here we are.
I started the group a few years ago as a very average, very determined, middle-aged learner of surfing. I simply wanted a way to blend fun, movement and the company of colleagues I genuinely enjoy.
Nothing formal. Nothing earnest. Just doctors learning something together — something where being ‘good’ didn’t matter.
